Colonel Paul J. Goguen was born in Leominster, Massachusetts and raised in Merrimack, New Hampshire. He enlisted in the Marine Corps and attended Recruit Training at Parris Island, South Carolina from February 1992 to May 1992. Upon graduation from Recruit Training, Basic Warrior Training and Precision Measuring Equipment Repair and Calibration School he was assigned to the Avionics Calibration Lab at MALS 11 in El Toro, California. In 1995, he was accepted into the Marine Corps Enlisted Commissioning Education Program and was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in 1998. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from The University of Florida. He holds a Master’s in Business Administration from The University of Phoenix specializing in Global Management, a Master’s in Business Administration from The Naval Postgraduate School, specializing in Material Logistics Management and a Master’s Degree in National Security and Strategic Studies from the United States Naval War College. Colonel Goguen is also a graduate of the following Marine Corps Schools: The Basic School (Commanding General’s Honor Roll), Logistics Operations School, Amphibious Warfare School (DEP), and the Marine Corps Command and Staff College (DEP).

Colonel Goguen’s command assignments include: Platoon Commander, Motor Transportation Company, Combat Service Support Group 3, Kaneohe Bay Hawaii; Commanding Officer, Truck Company, 2d Marine Division, Camp Lejeune North Carolina; Commander, Personnel Support Detachment, Marine Aircraft Group 16, Miramar California; and Commanding Officer, Combat Logistics Battalion -3.

Colonel Goguen’s staff assignments include: Logistics Officer, Marine Corps Air Facility, Marine Corps Base Hawaii; Maintenance Management Officer and Motor Transportation Officer, 10th Marine Regiment, Camp Lejeune North Carolina; Officer Selection Officer, Recruiting Station Orlando, Orlando Florida; Officer Trainer, National Training Team, Marine Corps Recruiting Command, Quantico Virginia; Logistics Officer, Marine Aircraft Group 16; Deputy A/CS Logistics, MARCENT Forward, Bahrain; Material Management Officer, Marine Corps Systems Command, Quantico Virginia; Desk Officer – Yemen, Special Operations Command Central, Tampa Florida; Deputy Commander, Special Operations Command Central (Forward) - Yemen, Riyadh Saudi Arabia, and Operations Officer, 6th Marine Corps District, Parris Island, South Carolina.

His personnel decorations include the Defense Meritorious Service Medal, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Joint Service Commendation Medal, the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal with silver star in lieu of sixth award, and the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal with gold star in lieu of second award.

Colonel Goguen is married to the former Melissa Lass of Lincoln, Rhode Island; they have two children, Danielle and Paul.
